Everyone is talking about Hillary Clinton's latest tall tale, the one pertaining to her 1990s Bosnia trip. She landed in a hail of sniper fire and had to run for her life to nearby vehicles. Yes, and I'm Indiana Jones.
The most interesting aspect of this issue is not Clinton's lie; informed people know she's a liar. Far more noteworthy is that the mainstream media are actually covering it.
The media are so transparent. Does anyone really believe they would have touched this story if it appeared during the general election and she was locking horns with John McCain? If you believe that, I have some land to sell you in the Whitewater development. The media would have moved on this story with the expedition of the Mendenhall Glacier.
I find it hard not to conclude that this reportage is driven solely by a desire to help the media's golden boy, Barack Obama. It's perfect timing, coming on the heels of the Rev. Wrong scandal. Obama took a hit, so the media had to hit Clinton to balance the scales and deflect attention from the faux messiah.
Thus, one thing Clinton has been truthful about is that the media have been tougher on her. It must be a real shock for the Clintons, too, actually receiving media scrutiny the way, oh, let's say, someone who wasn't a socialist would.
Anyway, it's amusing to watch leftists get into cat fights over two identically bad demagogues. Or, I should say, demagogues who both embrace the same corrupt ideology. As far as demagoguery goes, Clinton can't match Obama's Svengali-like touch.
