If you know anything about “human rights commissions,” you know that never were there entities more euphemistically named. They have proliferated throughout the Western world and have become tools of the thought police, and whatever rights they purport to protect, the right to speak Truth isn’t one of them. For evidence of this, just ask Canadian Christian Mark Harding, who ran afoul of the Ontario Human Rights Commission for criticizing Islam and was punished by his government. Or ask journalist Mark Steyn (I guess it’s not a good time for Marks to be rendering opinions), whose article “The Future Belongs to Islam” in Maclean’s magazine led to the publication being the target of a “human-rights complaint” in Canada (I guess it’s not a good time for Canadians to be rendering opinions, either).
Now the United Nations Human Rights Council seeks to bring this prescribed placidity to the whole world with a resolution that places religion in general and Islam in particular off-limits for criticism. Not surprisingly, Pakistan put the resolution forward on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. This is much like how the charges against Maclean’s were brought by two members of the Canadian Islamic Congress who claimed that the magazine hurt Muslims' “dignity, feelings and self-respect.” It’s yet another example of a culturally exhausted West’s capitulation to a resurgent Muslim world. Call it Saladin meets Richard the Chickenheart.

Selwyn Duke's philosophical logic is beyond reproach. I applaud you for your grasp of reality and your gift for articulating your thoughts.
I am an admirer of the writings of Mark Steyn. He is among the wittiest human beings on the planet and I highly recommend his book, "America Alone". I also enjoy his op-eds that appear in the Washington Times.
The arc of Moslem domination is as fascinating as it is troubling. I will go on the record to say that I have read the Koran and while admitting that there is plenty there that might incite a "true believer" to violence, there is also plenty there to substantiate the peaceful devotion of the vast majority of Moslems.
What is troubling is Islam's fierce advancement by its most fanatical adherents. History shows that rabid Moslems will stop at nothing to advance their cause. History also shows numerous occasions where their conquest occured without a shot being fired and without blood being shed. This is what we Westerners should fear and should gird ourselves against.
In the Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians (Chapter 6, verse 12), we are admonished that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places". The context is in being "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" and putting on "the whole armour of God". The ensuing verses advise us to become intimately acquainted with this "armour" so that we may stand against it. And prevail.

It seems to me that the Muslims and Germans(Assyrians) are the punishing hand of God. Their hearts are hardened against the backsliding nations of the Israelites and as a result do unwittingly, the bidding of the creator as a way to punish those who transgress his laws and statutes.

Sorry Mike, perhaps I read it wrong. Pat Robertson Is always saying the wrath of God this and that and that we are being punished as if God is like a mean kid with a magnifying glass over an ant hill.
My perspective is a bit different. I believe God set in place a natural order, perfect at creation. He then, over time, after the fall of man, conveyed his Law to man; some call it the Natural Law. The Laws of Nature or the Laws of the Creator, if you prefer, hold within them a "punishment" for breaking them; much like the Law of Gravity. The Law of Gravity if we choose to test it brings immediate pain or death. The Laws of the Creator, if broken, all have inherent penalties although, they may not be realized immediately or even on earth.
God loves us and wants us to succeed, he gave us the wisdom and intellect to discern his tenants; we must choose to use them.

Walt indeed YHWH wants us to succeed and he definitely loves us. He gave his only begotten son to save us. But I have to disagree with the idea that he doesnt punish us in some way for our transgressions. I know that I would not simply let my son do something that is illegal or against what I consider to be acceptable. I strongly believe YHWH is the same way. I also agree that he gave us intellect to discern however he knows just like I do that my son just like us his sons will stray. Hence the sending of his son Yahshua to redeem. Thanks Walt
