Liberal icon Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said, “You’re entitled to your own opinions, but you’re not entitled to your own facts.” But that was decades ago, and today more leftists than ever have graduated from confusion to delusion and believe they’re entitled to their own fiction.

A good example is naturalist David Attenborough, who recently complained that man is a plague upon our planet. He warns that our burgeoning population will ensure that we consume the world’s resources like a sun-occluding swarm of high-tech locusts. Writes The Telegraph:

Ten Piers Morgan Gun Lies, Untruths, and Deceptions

It’s probably not quite true that gun-control advocate Piers Morgan has been “standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook,” as Breitbart editor Ben Shapiro put it. It’s more correct to say that the cheeky Brit has been standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook, jumping up and down, and stamping his foot. I can say nothing else about a man who repeatedly combines the Newtown tragedy with lies, misconceptions, and deceptions to push a political agenda. What am I talking about? Well, here’s a top 10 list.

Walmart and the 100-round magazine

Morgan wrote in the Daily Mail, “I can saunter into Walmart — America’s version of Tesco — and help myself to an armful of … magazines that can carry up to 100 bullets at a time.” Perhaps he could.

But he can’t.

When Kids and Guns Mix

We all know what can happen when kids and guns mix. And today I will tell you some stories about that very thing. The kids' names were Kendra and Alyssa, and then there was the 11-year-old boy whose name we just don't know. What we do know is that they lived in places called Bryan County, Albuquerque, and Palmview. We know that guns were in their homes -- and that something horrible befell them.

Last year, 12-year-old Oklahoman Kendra St. Clair was home alone, unsupervised. At some point she accessed her mother's handgun -- a .40-caliber Glock. Then Kendra pulled the trigger.

And that bullet tore into flesh.

You probably know the rest of the story.

School Shootings Solution: Not Gun Control or Guard Patrol — Door Control

In the wake of tragic Sandy Hook, many Americans are desperate to prevent further school shootings. Thus do we find ourselves debating two very divisive ideas: gun control and armed guards in schools. But there is another idea, one both simple and acceptable to virtually all: lockable, bulletproof doors for classrooms and school entrances.

This is a common-sense suggestion that has precedent. After 9/11, we had similar debates to those raging now. Today we’re divided over the idea of arming some teachers; back then there was rancor over the idea of arming pilots. Of course, we did finally appoint air marshals, the equivalent of armed guards in schools. Yet no one had to debate what was universally self-evident: the need to reinforce cockpit doors.

When Teachers aren’t Smarter than a Fifth-grader

When I’ve written about our listing mis-education system, my focus has mainly been on rampant political correctness, on how students learn few of the right things partially because of emphasis on teaching the wrong things. Yet there’s another problem: in some cases the teachers couldn’t teach the right things even if they wanted to — they don’t know them.

Professor Walter Williams treated this in his latest syndicated column, “Dishonest Educators.” He introduces the topic by talking about the fairly recent cheating scandals in places such as Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston, New York, Detroit, and other large cities (in areas that, not coincidentally, also have high rates of vote fraud and other criminality). These are shocking instances in which teachers would commit transgressions such as reading answers aloud in class during the National Assessment of Educational Progress test. How did they justify this? Well, Williams quotes one teacher who told a fellow “educator,” “I had to give your kids, or your students, the answers because they’re dumb as hell."

Bank of America Freezing Gun Manufacturer’s Account

You might think that a professional outfit such as Bank of America operated based on stated policy and not caprice. But not according to owner of American Spirit Arms Joe Sirochman.  

On his Facebook page, Sirochman tells of his adventures with the banking giant. Like other gun dealers and manufacturers, his business is booming currently — Internet orders are up 500 percent. This caused there to be an unusual number of deposits made to his business’ BoA account via his website’s e-commerce system, triggering an account freeze. This may not seem strange, as banks have security systems that temporarily freeze accounts when detecting anomalous activity. This happened to me once after using my debit card to make an unusual series of purchases; the freeze was irritating, but nothing a few minutes on the phone didn’t remedy. But this is where Sirochman’s story takes a bizarre turn. He writes (edited for style):

After countless hours on the phone with Bank of America, I finally got a manager in the right department who told me the reason that the deposits were on hold for further review. Her exact words were:

“We believe you should not be selling guns and parts on the Internet.”

Obama Supporters are Shocked, Shocked, I Tell You….

My mother always used to say, “Life is the best teacher.” Sure is — and sometimes it smacks you right upside the head. It appears this has happened with Barack Obama supporters now witnessing their paychecks shrink in the wake of tax increases. And they’re none too happy. In fact, they’re shocked.

Shocked, I tell you.

Really, I can’t completely blame foreigners who hold us Americans in contempt. I know that’s a controversial statement, but my reasoning is explained with two questions: Do people generally respect those who allow themselves to be used as a doormat? And, then, how do people usually feel about the character of a traitor?

Now consider what foreigners see from modern America. We not only allow aliens to transgress our borders and often refuse to deport them, but we then also sue each other, with many among us fighting tooth and nail for the “rights” of these interlopers. Where other nations throw illegal migrants out like yesterday’s trash, we’re erecting water stations in the southwestern desert to facilitate their invasion.

Then there is the war on our formative religion, Christianity, and the attendant exalting of what had been considered foreign faiths, such as Islam. There are again the lawsuits, resulting in the removal of crosses and other historically present Christian symbols and sentiments. Christmas trees are renamed “Holiday” trees and schoolchildren are sometimes told not to write about Jesus, while a California school district instituted an Islamic immersion course. In contrast, Muslim countries tend to be chauvinistically Islamic, often even prohibiting the proselytization of other faiths under the threat of death.

There are other examples, but suffice it to say we’re eating ourselves alive.

Vote-stealing Dem Pleads Guilty to Beating up Girlfriend

If you’re a Democrat operative forced to resign for facilitating vote fraud, what do you do for a follow-up?

If you said brutally attack your girlfriend, cracking her skull, your name just might be Patrick Moran.

And if you’ve skated on both counts, your father just might be Jim Moran, Democrat congressman from Virginia.

Patrick Moran was the field director for his father’s campaign before the election — that is, until a sting operation caught him on video coaching an undercover reporter on how to commit vote fraud. He sounded as if he’d already achieved semi-pro status, too. But since undermining our republic is obviously right up there with jaywalking, he didn’t have to spend any quality time basket-weaving with one of his father’s most reliable constituencies. And now we learn that Moran’s relational conflict resolution is morally congruent with his philosophy on electoral success. Writes Washington’s City Paper:

Moran and his girlfriend were fighting outside 14th Street bar The Getaway [in Columbia Heights, DC] around 1:23 a.m. on Dec. 1, according to a police report, over Moran talking to another woman at the bar. Suddenly, Moran allegedly slammed his girlfriend's head into the bar's metal trash can cage.

After the attack, police described Moran's girlfriend as "bleeding heavily from her nose and also observed that her nose and right eye were extremely swollen." One of the ambulance technicians who transported her to Howard University Hospital told police that Moran appeared to have broken her nose and given her a skull fracture under her right eye.

Six-year-old Suspended for Firing Assault Finger

If you want to know why we’re breeding some crazy youngsters nowadays, you only have to look at the adults surrounding them. A case in point is a Maryland elementary school that recently suspended a little child for using an assault finger. Writes The Examiner of Washington:

The 6-year-old, who attends Roscoe R. Nix Elementary School in Silver Spring, made a gun with his hands, pointed it at another student and said "pow," according to Robin Ficker, the boy's attorney. He was given a one-day suspension, with a conference on the matter planned for Jan. 2….

Wow.

He said “pow.”

And I bet it really was “POW!”
