In 2020, voters aged 18 to 29 supported Joe Biden over President Trump by a wide margin, 61 percent to 36 percent. Yet there was one outlier subset among this group: young white men.
They supported Trump.
Striking this is when considering that other subsets, including young white women, backed Biden by robust margins ranging from, percentage-wise, 86-10 to 55-42. Adding yet more perspective, in 2020, news site Insider quoted an expert as saying that young white men and women were really “far apart” in voting — about 20 percentage points.
“Women and men of color are not showing that kind of departure from each other,” the expert added. So what’s going on?
