During a political discussion last week, a man told me that he knew abortion was murder, but couldn’t understand how there shouldn’t be exceptions for rape and incest. It was a statement that could remind one of G.K. Chesterton’s observation, “Men do not differ much about what things they will call evils; they differ enormously about what evils they will call excusable.”
But now fewer politicians are calling murder in this context excusable (or, at least, politically necessary). In fact, ever since Alabama enacted a 2019 prenatal infanticide ban without rape and incest exceptions, such laws have proliferated.

In cases of pregnancy caused by incest , if the child is born it can result in terrible even life-threatening genetic disorders caused by inbreeding . Also, liberal Democrats do not support aborting a healthy baby just before birth . The claim that they do is a blatant lie spread by the conservative media . Liberal Democrats only support late term abortions in medical emergencies to save a woman's life . And in such situations, the fetus would not have survived birth .
In cases where a little girl has been impregnated , giving birth can be fatal for her, because at this early age, a girl's hips have not widened enough for a safe birth yet .
