Nullification? Ignore Judge’s Immigration “Order,” Florida AG Tells State Law Enforcement

With “each decision … unabashedly based not on law,” the Court moves “one step closer to being reminded of [its] impotence,” warned late Justice Antonin Scalia in his Obergefell v. Hodges dissent (2015). Now, a decade later, the judiciary has just gotten a major reminder.

That is, an Obama-appointed activist judge recently “ordered” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier to halt a state immigration law’s enforcement. And the people-elected realist Uthmeier has responded, saying, in essence:

“China is going to eat our lunch?” Joe Biden asked dismissively on the campaign trail in 2019. “Come on, man…. They’re not competition for us.” The Trump administration has taken a very different posture. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that Beijing is undertaking the “fastest, most rapid, most expansive peacetime military buildup in history” and called it “the single greatest challenge this nation has ever faced.” And, of course, President Trump has targeted China with tariffs that have become a bone of contention domestically.

Of course, some good, intelligent people, such as economist Thomas Sowell, consider the tariff strategy misguided. But wherever we stand and whatever the truth on that, a striking reality is inescapable.

China is not just our main geopolitical adversary; rather, it’s the most fearsome and foreign of foreign threats.

It is, in fact, from the Western perspective, the closest thing there is to an aggressive, planet-imperiling, alien civilization on Earth.

Paterson, New Jersey, has quite a history. Founded as a planned industrial city in 1792, it was named after William Paterson, a signatory to the Constitution and a Garden State governor. Like so many American municipalities, it had a Main Street, too.

Had, that is, because it’s now “Palestine Way” — thus officially renamed in 2022.

If it seems odd that the street is officially named after a place that doesn’t officially exist, perhaps Mayor Andre Sayegh can explain. After all, Sayegh, Paterson’s first Arab head, declared the city the “capital of Palestine” earlier this month.

But is this surprising? Paterson reportedly has one of the highest per capita Muslim populations among American cities, and politicians play to their audience.

And does any of this matter?

To reference the iconic 1964 film Dr. Strangelove, have the Europeans “Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb”? One could wonder. After all, in 1956, the USSR sent 200,000 soldiers into Hungary. The West did not send arms to the Hungarians, call for Soviet regime change, or consider sending troops. In 1968, the USSR sent forces into Czechoslovakia to crush the “Prague Spring” liberalization movement. The West did not send arms to the Czechoslovakians, call for Soviet regime change, or consider sending troops. (In fact, the U.S. actually stated it would not get involved.)

A very compelling reason for this, of course, was the atomic sword of Damocles hanging over all and sundry. Why, then-president Ike Eisenhower explicitly said regarding Hungary that he was concerned about sparking nuclear conflict. Now, though, with Russia no longer being the USSR, Moscow has given up all its nuclear weapons.

Or, so one might think given Western European chest-thumping.

Well, the left-wing Gaîté Lyrique theater in Paris, France, ought to be able to tell you. After all, it has been occupied by African migrants for five weeks now. The kicker:

The takeover began after the theater hosted a free-of-charge conference promoting tolerance for migrants — which the migrants attended.

Is “Put America Last” the immigrationists’ slogan? It’s not enough that Joe Biden said in 2020 that many illegal aliens are “more American than most Americans are.” It’s not enough that New York City has spent literally billions of dollars on hotel rooms for illegals. It’s not enough that the Big Apple shelled out more than $50 million on prepaid credit cards for migrants. It’s not enough that NY has offered illegals driver’s licenses. Because there’s a kicker, too.

All the while the city was also spending millions on a program providing lawyers who defend the interlopers against deportation.

What’s more, a New York jurisdiction that dared cooperate with federal authorities’ deportation efforts has been fined $60 million.

It’s the immigrationist conception of virtue: Open the borders and invite illegals in — then treat them better than citizens.

Philosopher C.S. Lewis once noted that it’s what slips from our mouths when we’re not thinking that reveals our hearts. This could come to mind with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s claim that those demanding an inquiry into child-abusing rape gangs are jumping “on a bandwagon of the far Right.”

Delivered at a Monday press conference, Starmer’s comments were in response to a firestorm of criticism ignited by entrepreneur Elon Musk. Musk had resurrected the rape-gang story via his X social-media platform mere days ago, as I reported this weekend.

The prime minister’s efforts at flipping the script appear to have backfired, however. That is, many critics say that implicit in his remarks is that child sex abuse is just a right-wing concern. History may inform that he’s not all wrong about that, either (more on this later). Also notable here is that this controversy is shaping up to be a classic Establishment/anti-Establishment conflict.

H-1B Blues: Dividing MAGA, Americans From Their Jobs — and America From Americanism

To H-1B or not to H-1B, that is the question. As is well known, and as is well loved by Democrats, there currently is an immigration battle among Republicans. Pitting the forces of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy against those of anti-immigrationist Laura Loomer and political strategist Steve Bannon, the dispute concerns H-1B visas, which are used to bring foreign high-tech workers into the U.S. The issue evokes deep passion, too, and for good reason. Musk himself came to America via an H-1B and declares that bringing new talent into the U.S. is necessary for our continued preeminence. His opponents counter that the program is actually used to replace American-born employees with foreigners who’ll work more cheaply. This is often true, too.

Also true, but rarely discussed despite being the most important issue, is that H-1B doesn’t just separate Americans from jobs. It also separates America from Americanism. That is, there’s a point that Musk, Ramaswamy, and most conservatives miss. (More on this later.)

In 2005, the Mexican government distributed comic-book-style manuals instructing migrants on how to enter and remain in the U.S. illegally. Now, a generation later, new messages are being sent to would-be illegal aliens.

“How much did you pay to have your daughter raped? Many girls are raped by the coyotes you hire,” is one.

“Your wife and daughter will pay for their trip with their bodies,” reads another. “Coyotes lie. “Don’t put your family at risk.”

“Many girls who try to migrate to Texas are kidnapped,” yet another message warns. “For the sake of your family, stop.”

And, no, the above don’t come with trigger warnings.

Deportation: Do We “Please Migrants” — or Muster Up the Guts to Save America?

“Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder,” said historian Arnold Toynbee. Slow suicide is tragic, too. It may be obvious that a man hooked on drugs or alcohol is headed toward destruction. Yet he still may be unable to kick his addictions. And so it is with civilizations and their addictions to bad ideas and tendencies. Examples are immigrationism and bleeding-heart, misguided compassion — both of which threaten the U.S.’s existence.

Commentator Pat Buchanan, after noting that it was hard-nosed men who founded and forged our nation, once asked if we today possess the intestinal fortitude to preserve their creation. The answer may be no, too, if Americans can’t demonstrate the virtue necessary for a certain civilization-preserving act: mass deportations.

Note also the congruence to this prescription. Mass deportation corresponds to mass migration, the latter of which has been orchestrated, calculatingly and illegally, by our immigrationist pseudo-elites.
