Louisiana, Law, and Lies: Is Displaying the Ten Commandments in Classrooms Constitutional?

“The fundamental basis of this Nation’s law was given to Moses on the Mount,” said a famed American figure. “The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings which we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul.”

Which evangelist said the above? Billy Graham? Pat Robertson? Jerry Falwell?

Actually, it was Democratic president Harry Truman.

“Give ’Em Hell Harry” wasn’t alone. In 1935, fellow Democrat and New Deal author President Franklin Roosevelt said in a statement, “We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a Nation, without reckoning with the place the Bible has occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic.”

Obama’s Mideast Policies Are Paid for in Christian Blood

They cut off the 12-year-old boy's fingertips, but still he refused to convert to Islam. They then “severely beat him,” reports the group Christian Aid Mission, “telling his father they would stop the torture only if he, the father, returned to Islam. When the [father] refused, relatives said, the ISIS militants also tortured and beat him and … two other ministry workers. The three men and the boy then met their deaths in crucifixion.”

Perpetrated by Islamic State (IS) jihadists, the above crime occurred near Aleppo, Syria, just last month. But it’s a scene that has been replayed over and over in the Middle East for years now, a result, say critics, of Obama administration policy that has destabilized the region and empowered the most brutal of Islamists.

Christians Need Not Apply

“Haters of humanity” was the charge leveled against Christians in early first-millennium Rome. Thus impugned because they didn’t want to participate in the empire’s pagan festivals, they suffered a plight common to those swimming against their civilization’s tide: persecution. Of course, even in a nation that appreciates freedom of speech and religion, stigmatization of certain groups is inevitable. For as someone once pointed out, stigmas are the corollaries of values: If certain things are to be valued, it follows that their opposites will be devalued. As an example, you cannot value economic freedom highly without devaluing communism. Ergo, stigmas are necessary. And since they’re the flip side of values, what a civilization chooses to value is of utmost importance.

So when Rome valued paganism, it quite naturally devalued Christianity. But this would change. Jesus’ faith was legalized in 313 A.D., and in 380 it would become the empire’s official religion. And it would so infuse and shape the West  that the Occident would become known as Christendom and the United States’ first president would say, “To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.” For, in fact, Christian character was once considered integral to everything.

But a change has been afoot in America. It has been happening quickly, so quickly that few people, even most astute culture warriors, fully appreciate what’s occurring.

Breaking: Pope Francis Met With Ky. Clerk Kim Davis

Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who made national news for refusing to issue “marriage” licenses to same-sex couples, may not have many fans among the mainstream media. But it appears that at least one media darling is a fan of hers: Pope Francis.

It has just been reported that during his recent trip to the United States, the pope met with Davis face-to-face and offered her words of support.

Top Imam: Muslims Must Conquer Europe by Breeding With Its People

We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe — without swords, without guns, without conquest — will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades,” said late Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in an April 2006 speech. While his estimate of Muslim numbers in the Old World was likely a bit high (at the time), critics say the “demographic conquest” he outlined is prescribed by the Koran. And now a top Islamic religious leader has echoed his sentiments, saying of Europeans, “We will breed children with them, because we shall conquer their countries!”

Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis Jailed: Christians Need Not Apply

“To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.” So said the father of our nation and first American president, George Washington, in the 18^th century. Now, in the 21^st century, the “distinguished character of a Christian” is increasingly considered a disqualification from employment. And Kim Davis (shown), the Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk who has made news recently, is a case in point.

She has just been jailed for acting in accordance with her Christian faith and refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Clerk Defies Unconstitutional Court: Won’t Issue “Marriage” Licenses to Homosexuals

Few people take moral stands today that could land them in prison, but Kim Davis (shown) is an exception. The Rowan, Kentucky, county clerk has made national news by refusing to issue marriage licenses to anyone — homosexual or straight — since the Supreme Court’s unconstitutional June Obergefell faux-marriage ruling. And now Davis has doubled down, defying courts that have ordered her to resume issuing licenses, even though the Supreme Court has just decided not to support her position. In explaining why she is unbowed, Davis says that she’s acting “under the authority of God.”

Shocking Interviews: The Muslims in America Who Want Sharia

They don’t call it “Little Mogadishu” for nothing. The Cedar Riverside section of Minneapolis is home to the University of Minnesota, supplying college graduates who fight for jobs in a tough market. But this one neighborhood is also supplying something else: Dozens of jihadis — drawn from the area’s large concentration of Somali refugees — who leave Cedar Riverside and travel abroad to fight for terrorist groups.

Just as shocking, though, are the attitudes of some who remain in the North Star State. This was revealed recently by documentarian Ari Horowitz and a film crew from the David Horowitz Freedom Center, who took to the Cedar Riverside streets and asked some important questions. And they got some telling answers — ones that, distressingly, polls show reflect common sentiments among Muslims in America.

God and Evil: My Answer for Michael Savage

Torture, pain, beheadings, the murder of children…. If God exists and is all good, how could He allow such suffering and evil? This is a common question, and a lament often an impediment to faith. It also was addressed recently on the Savage Nation radio show, where host Michael Savage — exhibiting his versatility and talk virility — will sometimes broach that certain thing we’re supposed to discuss even less than politics. His answer to the question was contained in his newsletter and is:

I actually believe that God has no effect on a moment-by-moment basis or a person-by-person basis.

If I did, then I’d have to stop believing in God.

If I were to believe that God controlled everything on earth, then I’d have to believe that God is evil.

I believe God is not omnipotent. He is omnipresent.

That’s what saved me from atheism.

It certainly is good to have an answer that saves one from atheism, but is the above the answer?

God undoubtedly doesn’t micromanage our lives, controlling matters on a moment-by-moment basis; this reality is called His “permitting will” in theological circles, as opposed to His “ordaining will.” But why is God, as some might say, so “permissive” (He isn’t, really)? There is an answer, but before addressing it let’s examine the matter of God’s omnipotence.

Louisiana Gov. Jindal Signs Religious-freedom Executive Order

Taking a stand for religious liberty, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal (shown) signed an executive order Tuesday granting new protections to businesses that do not wish to service faux weddings. The move came mere hours after the Louisiana House Civil Law and Procedure Committee killed a religious-freedom bill that would have accomplished the same goal.

Commenting on the legislators’ failure to act, Jindal said in a statement, "We are disappointed by the committee's action to return the Louisiana Marriage and Conscience Act to the calendar....

Was Politician Forced Into Mental Institution for “Islamophobia”?

One tactic Soviet-bloc countries would use to stifle dissidents was involuntary confinement to mental institutions. After all, you have to be crazy to oppose state ideology, right? Now, though, 26 years after the Berlin Wall’s fall comes a similar shocking story — from well west of where the wall stood.

It is alleged that a French mayor has been involuntarily confined to a mental asylum for “Islamophobia.”

The story involves Robert Chardon, mayor of the southern French town of Venelles; the problems began when, participating in a public Twitter discussion initiated by former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, the mayor proposed a prohibition against Islam in France.
