“The fundamental basis of this Nation’s law was given to Moses on the Mount,” said a famed American figure. “The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings which we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul.”

Which evangelist said the above? Billy Graham? Pat Robertson? Jerry Falwell?

Actually, it was Democratic president Harry Truman.

“Give ’Em Hell Harry” wasn’t alone. In 1935, fellow Democrat and New Deal author President Franklin Roosevelt said in a statement, “We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a Nation, without reckoning with the place the Bible has occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic.”

Without God, There is No TRUE Respect for Human Life

Since my title is bound to inspire criticism that I’m a “God botherer,” I’ll preface what follows by stating that I wasn’t always the halo-adorned, floating-in-the-ether desert mystic (without the sand or heat) you behold today. I wasn’t raised with faith, and as a 12-year-old was an agnostic who’d say, “I’d never believe or disbelieve in anything there’s no proof of.” Later on I’d be rather dismissive of theists, actually, viewing them as God botherers myself, though we didn’t have that term or as many Richard Dawkins-like secularist warriors back then. I suppose we were, relatively speaking, handicapped in our exercise of supercilious anti-theism.

But that has changed — and I’ve changed. I long ago could’ve moved on to supercilious pro-theism; only, my faith instructs that Pride is the father of all sin, Humility is a virtue and warns that “he who exalts himself will be humbled.” The realization I’ll expound upon today further explains why I’ve changed, and I mention my spiritual evolution not because I’m narcissistic (though that isn’t to say I’m not!) but because maybe, just perhaps, a few non-believers will consider what follows more seriously knowing it doesn’t come from someone “raised to think that way.”

In the United States, DEI has received pushback, and many hope DEI will DIE. In Britain, though, the phenomenon may be alive and well and poised to intensify what’s already a two-tiered justice system. A case in point is new sentencing guidelines that would give Muslims and other “minorities” shorter sentences than whites for the same crimes.

Reps and Dems Different Species? Most Dems “Believe There Are More Than Two Sexes”

People trying to find common ground between groups sometimes may say, “We’re more alike than we’re different.” Yet this may not be true of Republicans and Democrats — especially not today. Oh, sure, we all have the same tolerances for heat and cold, require oxygen, have survival needs, and are mortal. We also all have beliefs, but this is where profound differences emerge. Just consider a striking example.

Ninety-six percent of Republicans agree with President Donald Trump’s executive order affirming that there are just two sexes.

Among Democrats, however, only 14 percent support the measure. Seventy-seven percent oppose it, leaving some observers aghast that upwards of three-quarters of Democrats believe there are more than two sexes.

Do you know that, based on court rulings, members of so-called privileged groups who claim employment bias must meet a higher bar than “minorities”? Ironically, of course, this means that the latter are privileged by law. It’s a standard akin to the notion that “only whites can be ‘racist.’” But now, one woman’s discrimination case may change all this.

“My first wife was ’tarded,” said the low-IQ “Doctor Lexus” while reassuring his patient in the 2006 film Idiocracy. “She’s a pilot now.” A bit later in the movie, a plane is seen crashing in the distance while everyone goes about his business cavalierly, completely inured to such gross incompetence. Now, some may say it’s a bit frivolous opening an article on a serious topic with a popular-culture reference. It’s not, however, any more frivolous than a girl-power commercial produced by the airline involved in last Monday’s Toronto crash. What’s more, the commercial perhaps offers insight into why the mishap occurred. It’s also a commentary on our decaying meritocracy — and brings us closer to “idiocracy.”

As a Matter of Fact, I DO Care What People Do in Their Bedroom

Some years ago, during a brief social/political discussion with an older woman I ran into in a store, she said something to the effect of, “I don’t care what people do in their bedroom.” She made the statement reflexively, clearly confident I’d agree. Doesn’t everyone today?

Imagine her shock when I replied passionately and without missing a beat, “Well, I do!”

That pretty much ended the conversation. Really, though, it also can be a good conversation starter — for the truly inquisitive.

As to my meaning, no, I’m not Enid Strict The Church Lady (I don’t look good in a dress and I tend more toward Paul Harvey than Dana Carvey). Nor would I, as emperor, put CCTV cameras in everybody’s home; I’ve no interest in uber-intrusiveness. But I do have a strong interest in preserving civilization — and in restoring it in the first place.

Newer World Order? Is Trump’s U.S. Now Closer to Russia Than “Soviet” Europe?

It was more than a decade ago now that I wrote about “Soviet Sweden.” The focus was that nation’s suicidal multicultural and immigrationist policies and suppression of free speech. Even if Sweden then “led” its continent in this regard, however, all of Western Europe exhibited the same cultural trajectory. And now, 11 years later, another writer notes, “The European Union is fast becoming the ‘politically correct’ reformulation of the old Soviet Union.”

Of course, many have made a similar observation — notably Vice President J.D. Vance. In his now legendary Munich speech last Friday, he criticized European governments for enforcing woke standards via free-speech suppression. In contrast, President Donald Trump is negotiating with Russia, whose leader, Vladimir Putin, the Biden administration wouldn’t even talk to. It’s a striking turnaround, one that raises some questions.

With Russia being nationalism-oriented and Western Europe largely internationalist, are we now more culturally aligned with Moscow than the EU?

And how much can the U.S. (at least its MAGA portion) have in common with today’s uber-woke Western Europe?

Post Roe v. Wade, Will Same-sex “Marriage” Be Back on the Ballot?

Though an ardent leftist, late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg once conceded that Roe v. Wade (1973) was a badly settled decision. But settled it was. Then the abortion ruling finally was “unsettled” and “resettled” in 2022 with the Dobbs decision. Will the same process unfold with the Obergefell v. Hodges same-sex “marriage” opinion (2015) — only, with greater speed?

Pro-family group MassResistance (MR) apparently thinks so. The organization is optimistic because a same-sex “marriage” resolution it’s pushing has now been advanced in two state legislatures. The resolution — recognizing that, as with abortion, marriage is a state issue — requests that the Supreme Court overturn Obergefell.

MR certainly has support in this regard. For example, Justice Clarence Thomas has said that the 2015 opinion should be revisited. Chief Justice John Roberts also disagreed with the opinion — vehemently. It was so bad, he said in his dissent against Obergefell, that the Constitution actually “had nothing to do with it.” Late Justice Antonin Scalia concurred. He said the decision was egregious enough to move the Court “one step closer to being reminded of [its] impotence.”

The very first Congress, in 1789, was opened with Christian prayers. Congress continued opening with Christian prayers in following years, and it opens with prayers today — and they’re still usually Christian. Despite this, somehow, some way, somebody at some point got the idea that it was unconstitutional for a public-school football coach to do what Congress does, even if he does it privately. With the Supreme Court finally having put this notion to bed in 2022, however, a question arises.

Are we beginning to restore a proper understanding of religion’s place in the American Republic?
